All the events were free for students and staff members to participate in. The purpose of each event was for the participants to learn a new healthy coping skill to add to their toolbox. Our focus ranged from self-love, self-expression, self-care, deep breathing, and concentration on the activity at hand.
As you navigate through each slide. You will see the grade level of students who attended, their current stress level at that time and what is stressing them out. We also asked a random question at each event. We will continue updating the site as new events are completed.

Past EventsThis activity was focusing on self-love. As people we are used to judging ourselves quite harshly and forget what we love about ourselves. We wanted participants to name at least one thing they love about themselves and write it down in their heart ornament we provided. They were able to keep the heart ornament as a reminder of what they love about themselves.

This activity was focusing on self-expression and provided all the participants with a free canvas tote bag. Participants were able to draw or write anything on their tote bags which prompted them to use their creative side. They were able to express themselves and have a reusable tote bag that they can use.

This activity everyone was a winner. The participants would win items that relate to self-care from journals, stress balls, fuzzy socks, bubbles, slime, face masks, and other fun items. Self-care is so versatile that our items introduced self-reflection, tactile stimulation, deep breathing, personal hygiene, sense of coziness, and laughter.

This activity took it back to remembering the good old days in elementary and middle school. Participants created bracelets and or lanyards for themselves or for others. This assisted participants to focus on the project on hand for a brief period of time forgetting their problems. They were able to be in the present/grounding.

This activity was only for our Venice staff members. During a professional development meeting, we greeted them and provided them with a small tube of bubbles. We wanted them to feel like children again. We explained how bubbles assist with deep breathing, reducing stress and laughter. As a whole group, we blew bubbles together.
This activity focused on how gardening can assist with mental health. We provided everyone with a terracotta pot to decorate and keep. We informed attendees how gardening could help with deep breathing, a sense of accomplishment when a plant grows, reduce anxiety, and other health benefits.

This activity focused on organization by giving away canvas pencil pouches to be decorated and kept. We are heading to state testing and advanced placement testing and wanted everyone to feel organized in finding their writing supplies and other items. In addition, we informed them how being organized can reduce stress, sleep better and increase productivity.
