Out Come:
We provided psychoeducation about mental health and healthy coping skills and introduced wellness into the conversation. o Our top achievement is worth celebrating. The LAUSD Human Relations, Diversity & Equity has recognized our efforts with a prestigious Human Relations Student Leadership Award. This recognition not only validates our program but also underscores the importance of mental health and wellness in our community. o What evidence have you collected to share (use of data)? § Before students entered our events, they completed a Google form survey. It would ask them what their current stress level is and what environment brings them stress, and they could select multiple locations and what grade level they are in. Our findings showed that school is a primary stressor for peers. We had a large number of juniors attending. o What are the short-term outcomes (qualitative and quantitative) to affect change in the community or with the students? § Overall, we had over 600 students that participated in our events. When we went out to support students if they needed help with an activity, many responded that they were trying it for the first time. They haven’t done the activity before and are happy to have come and be in a safe place with us while doing something and listening to music. o What will be in the long-term outcomes to the community? §They learned about healthy coping skills. We spoke to students who carry the tote bag that they designed. They shared that they were happy carrying books with a tote bag they designed. We gave them new ideas about what self-care is. |
Quantitative Examples:
§ Number of students who have attended programs: 679 § Number of events: 16 Events; One Pending § Partner organizations: Partnered with four organizations. Our pending event will consist of more community agencies. § Mentors or supporters engaged- We had our school administration and school staff who participated in our activities. § Surveys measuring student responses: A Google Form asked students what other events they would like to see that focus on mental health and wellness. Qualitative Examples: § Quotes from participants- Parent wrote: "Thank you for all the interactive and fun events that the MHA Club has put together." § Stories and reactions- Students shared an interest in learning and trying new activities. § Observational data- We created a post of our event on Instagram and two-morning announcements. We sometimes did not advertise our event with posters around the school. We discovered that we did not have to promote a lot because students recognize who we are, and they show up. ·Reflection: §What we would do differently is promote our events in a timely manner. Our events had amazing outcomes, but we could have reached more people. Also, maybe we should have an interest form for our events in order to have a head count Final Budget: We purchased different materials for our other events. We started by buying shirts to distinguish our members. Our fun activities were meant to create energy for our 6th Annual Mental Health and Wellness Resource Fair. .
